Eight winners of Scottish Government funded floating wind competition announced

The Floating Wind Technology Acceleration Competition has announced eight technologies which will now receive funding and development support from the Scottish Government. The competition has been implemented by climate organisation The Carbon Trust.

Floating offshore wind is an emerging renewable energy technology with significance for places like Scotland where water depths often do not allow for the use of conventional offshore wind installations. In Scotland, the Scottish Government plans to deliver up to 10GW of offshore wind. The Floating Wind Technology Acceleration Competition has been looking for innovative concepts to advance the technology's market readiness. Competition winners include projects for mooring, maintenance and inspection of floating offshore wind turbines.
